Case Study: West Midlands Fire Service

Training of 16 technicians for the UK's second largest Fire Service

West Midlands Fire Service Case Study

INTRODUCTION

West Midlands Fire Service is the second largest fire and rescue service in England, covering an area of 902 sq. km and operating 38 fire stations across the West Midlands. Autotech Training, with an excellent track record of providing Electric/Hybrid vehicle training to a number of fire services was delighted to provide on-site training for 16 vehicle technicians at West Midlands Fire Service HQ, Birmingham.

As with a lot of emergency services, WMFS try to keep all service work in-house and the Principal Workshop Technician was keen to ensure that the vehicle technicians had the skill set to safely carry out repairs on electric vehicles.

I attended one of the three EV courses that were carried out and I personally found the trainer very good, extremely thorough and detailed on what he was teaching.

I learnt a lot during the course that was beneficial, he also went into a lot of detail on Health and Safety which we take very seriously at West Midlands Fire Service.

THE AUTOTECH TRAINING DIFFERENCE

As an IMI approved centre, we are able provide IMI Level 1, IMI Level 2, IMI Level 3 and IMI Level 4 Electric / Hybrid Vehicle training, either from our bespoke training suite or at your workshop. West Midlands Fire Service opted for training at their Perry Barr workshop; reducing travelling time and hotel costs for their 16 technicians. By splitting the training into 3 sessions, the impact on capacity in the workshop was reduced, ensuring day-to-day activities were not disrupted.

With our trainers being fully equipped to provide training on-site using our vehicles and equipment, the on-site option offers a cost effective solution to training your entire team in double-quick time.
