TOOL CONNECTION
Tool Connection is the UK’s most exciting and innovative tool company, distributing high quality tools through their Laser Tools, Kamasa, Gunson, Power-TEC and Connect Workshop Consumables brands. The company exports to over 60 countries world-wide and also designs, develops and produces special tools at their manufacturing plant in Sheffield. Working closely with vehicle manufacturers ensures that The Tool Connection are first to market with specialist vehicle solutions for modern motor vehicles.
The company’s tool range specialises in the automotive sector and their products are available through automotive wholesale outlets, motor factors, independent retailers, hardware stores and van sales.
Hybrid and EV is the Laser Tools’ brand fastest growing market sector, and for Tool Connection, it was crucial that their technical and sales team were up to date with all safe working practices and equipped with the right EV knowledgeable to enable them to advise customers and assist them in choosing the right high voltage tooling and equipment.
THE AUTOTECH TRAINING DIFFERENCE
Tool Connection contacted Autotech Training to book members of its internal technical team and external technical van demonstrators from Laser and Power-TEC onto the training company’s IMI Level X electric/hybrid vehicle training course.
While Autotech Training are flexible in the delivery of their IMI Levels 1-4 electric/hybrid vehicle training courses, travelling to customer’s across the UK to train employees or workshop staff on their own premises, Tool Connection opted to send its delegates to Autotech Training’s headquarters in Milton Keynes.
Splitting the 12 Tool Connection delegates into groups of 6, Autotech Training hosted each group in April this year, and delivered the X day Level X IMI electric/vehicle training course.
Significantly, Autotech Training’s highly experienced trainer delivered the course using Tool Connection’s own tools to ensure they could apply their new found knowledge to the equipment they work with.
Tool Connection now has future plans to extend this EV training to members of its sales team.
“EV training is vital for anyone operating or working on an electric vehicle, and as a duty of care employers should ensure that their employees hold the relevant skills,” comments Simon King, Managing Director Autotech Training, “Tool Connection is testament to this approach and safeguarding their employees. As a result, they now have the required EV skill set which will enable them to safely demonstrate and advise customers on the right tools.”
“The training given by Autotech Training was fantastic, as their trainers are very informative and passionate about what they do, and this was fed back by everyone on the course. Laser Tools continue to be at the forefront of the Hybrid and EV market so, working alongside partners such as Autotech Training is key to ensure we remain knowledgeable at all levels in the EV market.” Sean Satchwell, National Sales Manager, Tool Connection.
