BRINGING THE ICONIC LONDON BLACK CAB COMPANY FIRMLY INTO THE FUTURE
Sherbet the Electric Taxi Co. was one of the first taxi businesses to switch its fleet to electric, bringing the iconic London black cab firmly into the future, following the setting of ambitious targets on the capital to have zero-emission transport.
Operating over 500 taxis, each of the black cabs, which are rented by TfL licenced drivers who all hold the world-famous ‘knowledge’, are maintained and repaired by full time vehicle technicians who work across three Sherbet owned warranty centres around London.
Due to the high voltage nature of electric vehicles, Sherbet was keen to ensure that their technicians were trained to not only efficiently service the black cabs, but that they could do so safely.
EV training is vital for anyone operating or working on an electric vehicle, and as a duty of care employers should ensure that their employees hold the relevant skills. Sherbet is testament to this approach and safeguarding their employees. As a result, they now have the required EV skill set which will support their growth objectives.

THE AUTOTECH TRAINING DIFFERENCE
Approved by the IMI to deliver IMI Levels 1-4 electric/hybrid vehicle training from our dedicated EV Training Suite within our headquarters in Milton Keynes, we can also roll this training out onto the premises of any workshop or business looking to upskill its staff with EV skills. Our experienced trainers delivered the two day IMI Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle course at one of Sherbet’s London based centres over a weekend to keep downtime and travel costs to a minimum for the company. Autotech Training devised a bespoke training course for the Sherbet vehicle technicians to meet their exact needs.
The IMI Level 3 course is designed for anyone involved in the diagnosis and repair of electric/hybrid vehicles, enabling them to safely remove and replace high voltage components. While our skilled trainers delivered the course to the standards set by the IMI, which includes hands on learning on an electric vehicle, we tailored the approach to make it unique to Sherbet’s vehicle technicians by demonstrating the different components on an electric black cab from their own fleet.
