Case Study: British Car Auctions

Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle training delivered on the premises of BCA minimises disruption to the company's business.

AUTOTECH TRAINING DELIVERS LEVEL 3 EV TRAINING TO BCA VEHICLE TECHNICIANS

Europe's largest vehicle remarketing company, British Car Auctions (BCA) has witnessed a significant increase in the number of electric vehicles entering its portfolio.

Selling more than one million vehicles annually, BCA manages portside new car activity, refurbishment, storage, imaging, funding solutions and logistics for the growing used sector and the core remarketing operation.

All vehicles are serviced and inspected by BCA employed technicians, however faced with rising numbers of electric vehicles, up to 300 a week, it was vital that the technicians received electric vehicle training.

While BCA vehicle technicians had already completed Level 2 electric vehicle training, there was an urgent need for greater depth, and Level 3 electric/hybrid vehicle training would enable the technicians to disable an electric vehicle to carry out service and repair work skilfully and safely.

The course was excellent. We had already completed the Level 2 course with another provider, but the quality of the Autotech Training course was far superior. The knowledge of the trainer was fantastic, and he was always willing to answer any questions and made the course a pleasure to complete.”

THE AUTOTECH TRAINING DIFFERENCE

Requiring a swift solution, BCA submitted an enquiry through Autotech Training’s website and received an immediate response. Over 20 vehicle technicians were booked onto the IMI approved Level 3 electric/hybrid vehicle training course. However, due to the significant downtime, and the cost of travel to Autotech Training’s Milton Keynes headquarters, BCA were keen for a solution which would see technicians upskilled with minimum disruption to the business.

From its headquarters, Autotech Training operates a dedicated Electric Vehicle Training Suite complete with an electric vehicle for hands-on learning. However, through its network of experienced trainers, Autotech Training is able to create a flexible, customised training solution for clients, including delivering training on the premises of any business or workshop at times to suit.

Autotech Training carried out the two day IMI Level 3 electric/hybrid vehicle course at BCA’s electric vehicle hub in Chipping Warden. However, to minimise impact on the business, the 23 vehicle technicians were split into smaller groups, and Autotech Training delivered the training to all groups over eight consecutive days, which ran over a Bank Holiday weekend.

In addition to the electric vehicle training, Autotech Training also delivered two-day, MOT Manager training to 10 technicians at BCA’s Rockingham site.
