The globally renowned independent motorsport company, Prodrive, has armed its mechanics with electric vehicle qualifications through Autotech Training.
The Banbury-based business, who work with some of the greatest names in motorsport, recently partnered up with Lewis Hamilton's X44 team at the new Extreme E Championship. Prodrive is set to run the team at each round of the five-race series.
Keen to prepare its mechanics, and ensure they hold the right qualifications to work on the electric vehicles, Prodrive signed up for Autotech Training's IMI Level 2 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle course.
Held at Autotech Training's dedicated teaching facility within Autotech Group's Milton Keynes headquarters, the Prodrive mechanics were taken through the course modules by Mandla Ndhlovu, Training Delivery Director for Autotech Training.
For hands on learning, the Prodrive mechanics were able to put the theory into practice on the electric vehicle which is permanently in situ within Autotech Training's high spec Electric Vehicle Training Suite.
"The training facilities within Autotech Training were fantastic, with lots of useful equipment. We have really enjoyed the course," commented Simon Edwards, Race Team Chief Mechanic for Prodrive.
Autotech Training officially opened its dedicated Electric Vehicle Training Suite in January this year, marking a significant step forward for the company since it announced, in 2020, initiatives to drive up electric/hybrid vehicle training within the automotive industry. Autotech Training is certified to deliver IMI Levels 2 to 4 Electric/Hybrid vehicle courses.
