Autotech Training has completed another significant round of electric vehicle (EV) training with Petromin, marking a major milestone in their ongoing partnership and underscoring their commitment to advancing sustainable transportation in alignment with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
In collaboration with the National Transportation Solutions Company (NTSC), a subsidiary of Petromin, experienced trainers from Autotech Training delivered on-site IMI Levels 2 & 3 Heavy Electric Vehicle Training to 14 vehicle technicians at Petromin’s flagship Commercial Vehicle Centre (PCVC) in Riyadh.
This prominent site represents one of 27 PCVCs strategically located across Saudi Arabia, and NTSC is poised to convert this entire network into hybrid workshops. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the PCVC in Riyadh serves as a model of progress and innovation, providing comprehensive maintenance solutions to fleet and business owners.
At the end of 2023, Autotech Training conducted IMI Level 2 Electric/Hybrid training for Petromin technicians in Jeddah, paving the way for the opening of Petromin’s first EV AUTO CARE Centre. This latest step not only marks the second training series since the partnership between Petromin and Autotech Training was forged last year but it is also considered the Kingdom's pioneering instance of Heavy Electric Vehicle Training.
The delivery of Heavy EV Training ensures that Petromin and NTSC technicians hold the skills to safely repair and maintain heavy vehicles so fleet and business owners can expect efficient service, reduced downtime, and the assurance that their vehicles are in the hands of highly trained professionals.
The ongoing collaboration will see Autotech Training deliver a range of training and ongoing support to future-proof and upskill Petromin and NTSC’s workforce, covering areas such as New Energy Vehicles, Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology, and Advanced Driver-Assistance systems (ADAS) vehicles.
"Autotech Training is committed to empowering Petromin’s and NTSC's workforce with the skills necessary to support the shift to sustainable transportation," comments Alistair McCrindle, Operations Director for Autotech Training. “While recognising the advancement of the automotive industry and demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility, Petromin is committed to upskilling and future-proofing its technicians to ensure it can manage this transition. We are delighted to continue to support this through our training offering.”
In alignment with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 – which pledges to reach net zero emissions by 2060 - reducing the carbon footprint of commercial vehicles plays a vital role in reaching this objective and Petromin and NTSC are dedicated to supporting the transition to sustainable transportation.
Alongside offering a comprehensive suite of IMI-approved courses, Autotech Training will provide essential guidance on the installation of EV infrastructure.
