Autotech Training is thrilled to announce its first-ever award win at the prestigious Motor Industry Awards, after being recognised alongside global resource management company Veolia, and electric vehicle manufacturers Dennis Eagle within the Partnership category.

This accolade highlights the trio's groundbreaking collaboration which saw them successfully develop and deploy a UK-first approved technician training scheme for electric vehicles.

With the existing operations of Veolia relying on over 200 electric vehicles, the award-winning training program, recognised by the IMI, Dennis Eagle, and the health and safety executive, was developed to equip technicians with the skills necessary to work safely on high voltage systems.

The full course, exclusively designed by Autotech Training in partnership with Veolia and Dennis Eagle, includes three stages that incorporate IMI Levels 2 and 3 Heavy Vehicle Electric/Hybrid training and Dennis Eagle’s eCollect training course.

The innovative program not only fulfils current training demands but also aligns with Veolia’s vision to expand expertise from internal combustion vehicle maintenance to battery electric vehicle technology.

"This accolade underscores our commitment to delivering innovative training solutions that meet the evolving needs of the automotive industry," comments Alistair McCrindle, Operations Director at Autotech Training. "In collaboration with Veolia and Dennis Eagle, we have designed a pioneering IMI-accredited training program that not only addresses Veolia’s current training needs but also empowers their technicians to safely and efficiently manage the complexities of electric and hybrid vehicle systems. This award is a testament to the power of collaboration, the hard work of the Autotech Training team, and our dedication to excellence."

Gary Clark, UKI Fleet Director at Veolia, expressed his excitement about the recognition, stating, "We are delighted to have our partnership recognised. Our strategic vision for Veolia was to equip its workshop technicians with the skills to safely and effectively repair and maintain its growing fleet of electric vehicles (EVs). The opportunity to enhance internal capability allows us to minimize reliance on our manufacturers' aftersales resources, deliver cost savings, and help attract, develop, and retain a highly skilled workforce. This partnership focused on both the mutual benefit of increasing the number of skilled technicians and a commitment to service excellence."

Held last week, the Motor Transport Awards have set the benchmark for excellence among UK road transport fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers, and innovators, acknowledging the achievements of people and operators who continue to deliver the goods, for 38 years.
