As more electric vehicles come through the workshop, Autotech Training is helping technicians and garage owners build the skills and confidence needed to work on them safely. At this year’s Garage & Bodyshop Show (Hall 6, Stand B28), it will demonstrate its complete EV solution, combining specialist training with practical tools – including the newly available Laser EVIP 2.

Designed to immobilise electric vehicles by connecting directly to the Type 2 charge socket, the Laser EVIP 2 provides a simple and effective way to stop a vehicle from moving, even when the ignition is on. For technicians carrying out diagnostics or repairs on live systems, this adds an extra layer of safety and reassurance while working on the vehicle.

But it’s not just relevant for the workshop. For those involved in roadside recovery or working alongside emergency services, dealing with a damaged or unresponsive EV can be unpredictable. Without engine noise, it’s not always clear if a vehicle is still live, which can increase the risk of movement or exposure to high-voltage systems. Being able to immobilise the vehicle quickly and safely makes a real difference in these situations.

The Laser EVIP 2 forms part of Autotech Training’s wider approach to EV readiness. It’s not just about training technicians to work on electric vehicles but making sure garages have access to the right tools and knowledge to do the job safely and confidently.

Autotech Training will be joined on the stand by fellow Autotech Group brand Autotech Connect, which will be showcasing its voice-to-text and remote technical support solutions designed to help technicians access information faster and reduce time spent on admin.

Visitors to the Garage & Bodyshop Show can find Autotech Training in Hall 6, Stand B28, where the team will be on hand to talk through EV training, safety and what it means for your workshop.
