With the average selling price of a three-year-old electric vehicle (EV) dropping by 25% since the start of 2023, the demand for second-hand EVs is surging. This trend signifies an impending influx of customers visiting local garages for advice, maintenance, and servicing of their electric vehicles.
However, without adequate training, many garages risk being unable to meet this growing demand, potentially losing valuable customers to competitors.
In response, Autotech Training has created an EV Training bundle aimed at upskilling vehicle technicians to handle the demands of the electric vehicle market effectively. Through this initiative, garages can ensure they are well-equipped to retain existing customers while creating additional revenue streams as the number of used EV owners continues to rise.
The comprehensive EV Training bundle offers significant savings of over £200 per participant when booking all three IMI Electric Hybrid Vehicle courses (Levels 2 – 4) simultaneously. The training, spanning five days, covers two days each for Levels 2 and 3, followed by three days of Level 4 training.
This highest level of qualification provides technicians with essential skills and knowledge to safely conduct repairs on live high-voltage vehicle electrical components and systems.
Recognising concerns about traditional assessment methods, Autotech Training has adapted the IMI Level 4 training course to include 100% theory and practical learning and assessment, eliminating the need for a minimum 1,000-word written assessment after two days of training.
Training sessions are either delivered at Autotech Training’s dedicated EV Training Suite in Milton Keynes, or on-site at client premises, which reduces employee travel and accommodation costs while enabling flexibility in scheduling, including weekends and bank holidays, to minimise business downtime. An electric/hybrid car is used in the delivery of the courses to aid hands-on experience.
