Autotech Training creates Head of Operations role to aid company growth

Autotech Training has appointed Alistair McCrindle as Head of Operations.

The company has achieved considerable growth over the last few years and the decision to create a Head of Operations role has been made to ensure the quality and content of Autotech Training’s present and future course offering and delivery is both maintained and enhanced.

In his new role, Alistair will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the courses, which are either delivered on site at Autotech Training’s Milton Keynes headquarters or, increasingly, on the premises of a garage or business across the UK. In addition, Alistair will head up the creation and implementation of new course content, working closely with awarding bodies.

With a career in both the automotive aftermarket and the education sector, Alistair is ideally placed to support Autotech Training as the company continues to grow.

Beginning his career as an apprentice mechanic over 20 years ago, Alistair worked across both the independent sector and within main dealer groups, working his way up from vehicle technician to Service Manager. With a passion for bringing on new talent and supporting apprenticeships throughout his automotive career, Alistair made the decision, over a decade ago, to retrain as a college lecturer and embarked upon a teaching degree.

Ten years after joining Barnfield College’s automotive faculty, in which time he qualified and moved from lecturer to Deputy Head of Curriculum, Alistair joined the IMI as an External Quality Assurer in 2020 where he remained before making the move to Autotech Training.

“I have been aware of Autotech Training for many years and have been impressed with the growth of the company since it was originally launched as a division of Autotech Group,” comments Alistair. “I am now delighted to join them and bring both my automotive and educational experience together to help develop the company’s offering. My excellent relationship with the IMI will also support my mission to working with them to create new course content which will ultimately benefit and up-skill the automotive industry.”

“We are delighted to welcome Alistair to Autotech Training,” comments Colin Gleghorn, Managing Director of Autotech Training. “His knowledge and expertise will provide an excellent foundation to helping us build upon the quality of our course offering and delivery, and his passion for bringing on talent will support our aim of closing the industry’s skills gap.”
