As the number of electric vehicles on the roads increases, the AA announced a target earlier this year to train all of its patrols to at least an IMI Level 2 electric/hybrid vehicle certification by the end of 2022. While all AA patrols are already trained to IMI Level 1 equivalent, they will be IMI TechSafeTM registered when they gain Level 2 accreditation. Achieving IMI Centre approval for the delivery of IMI Level 2 electric/hybrid vehicle training at its own technical training facility in the West Midlands, the AA required additional support to train patrols working in areas with a high density of EVs to IMI Level 3 electric/hybrid vehicle accreditation.
Certified to deliver IMI Levels 2-4 electric/hybrid vehicle training, Autotech Training, working with both the AA and the IMI, is now working towards training over 100 AA patrols to IMI Level 3. These courses are being carried out within either Autotech Training's dedicated EV training facility in Milton Keynes, of from the AA's own training centre.

While all AA patrols are already trained to IMI Level 1 equivalent, they will be IMI TechSafeTM registered when they gain Level 2 accreditation. The IMI TechSafeTM Standards for those working on Electric Vehicles (EV) are set by the IMI and endorsed by the Government's Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).

RESULTS:
• Over 100 AA patrols will have been trained to IMI Level 3 electric/hybrid vehicle accreditation by the end of 2022 by Autotech Training.
• All patrols will get hands on learning as all course delivery, either at Autotech Training's EV Training Suite within its Milton Keynes headquarters or at the AA's own training centre, includes practical learning on an electric vehicle.
